Advancing Health Security: Strengthening Partnerships and Epidemic Preparedness in Mozambique

The RANA team recently held a series of strategic engagements with key government, civil society, and global health stakeholders in Maputo, Mozambique. The team met with representatives of the National Institute of Health (INS), the Ministry of Health’s Department of Public Health, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and health journalists. 

 The visit forms part of the two-year Civil Society-Led Advocacy Initiative for Nationally Led Disease Surveillance & Epidemic Preparedness, which aims to elevate surveillance and preparedness on national political agendas in Mozambique and Zambia while strengthening African-led civil society leadership on health security. 

During the visit, the team built partnerships, secured stakeholder buy-in for an upcoming narrative scoping and political economy study and held the Mozambique Steering Committee for the RANA Mozambique Working Group that is convened by Associação Hixikanwe.
